LAWYERS OF the Lucknow Bar Association created a ruckus inside the Collectorate building here on Monday to protest against the inaction of local police to prevent an alleged grabbing of land of one of their colleague in Nirala Nagar by anti-socials.

Shouting slogans against the administration, the lawyers met additional district magistrate (executive) NP Singh and narrated their story to him. Singh directed them to additional district magistrate (Trans- Gomti) Vinod Rai. But irked with their (lawyers) pressure tactics, Rai refused to intervene in the matter till members of the legal fraternity sobered down and explained facts of the case.

This enraged the advocates, who squatted in front of the ADM (TG’s) office and raised anti-establishment slogans.

The drama continued for over an hour. Subsequently, an SOS was sent to Superintendent of police Sunil Bajpai. The agitating lawyers were asked to send two of their colleagues to discuss the matter with the authorities. The SP said that the police figured nowhere in the picture as neither of the parties to the property dispute had so far approached the police in this connection. ADM Rai later said the issue was resolved and it the parties decided to abide by the court order in the dispute.
