Leaders of the Left parties, who rejected the Indo-US nuclear deal, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday and discussed issues arising out of the agreement.

Singh had a breakfast meeting with CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat, who has taken a tough stance on the deal.

This meeting was followed by another meeting the Prime Minister had with CPI General Secretary AB Bardhan.

The government is expected to make a formal statement on the issue shortly.
