The postmortem report of the leopard confirmed that it was killed by poachers after which an inquiry has been instituted in the matter, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) R K Singh said.

A complaint in this regard has also been filed at Murtiha police station against unidentified poachers, he said.

The body of a five to six-year-old male leopard was recovered from a sugarcane field near Lodhanpurwa village on July 27 and forest officials initially suspected that the leopard might be killed by a tiger.
