Lions kill man in Gir

A pride of lions killed a 28-year-old man near Babra village in Gir reserved forest area of Junagadh district, police said.

A pride of lions killed a 28-year-old man near Babra village in Gir reserved forest area of Junagadh district, police said on Saturday.

A group of 5-7 lions attacked Rajesh Parmar and three of his friends when they were walking through the Babra-Virdi area in Mangrol taluka yesterday, they said.

Parmar became the victim of hungry lions, who dragged him into the forest grabbing by the neck, police said.

Hearing the cries of Parmar, villagers and forest officials rushed to the spot and managed to scare away the pride, which left him in the forest with serious injuries on his neck and other parts, they said.

Parmar, later sucummbed to his injuries on the same spot, police said adding three others, however, managed to escape unhurt.
