AS MANY as 14 former corporators gained indirect entry into the LMC House by way of their wives’ victory! But, woman representation in the House dropped by 5—-only 41 make it as compared to 45 of the last year.

This exactly shows the complexion of the new House.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 42 out of 110 seats, Samajwadi party has bagged 32 and Congress 22, while independents have bagged 15 seats.
In the last house BJP had 47 members, Samajwadi party 36 and Congress 13. This time BJP and Samajwadi party have bagged five seats lesser and the major gainer at the cost of these two parties has been the Congress, which has also came back strongly in the mayoral polls.
In the absence of proper mandate by the Lucknowites the role of independent candidates in the election of deputy mayor has increased. Most of the independent elected are either BJP or Congress rebels. Two of them are BSP supported and one is RLD backed candidate. It may be recalled that state government has the right to nominate 10 corporators. Which would increase the number of SP corporators to 41. But all the parties are away from the majority figure.
Congress candidates have gained more votes than the last assembly elections according to congress leaders their performance was much above their expectations. Many of the congress seats were won by the BJP converts to the congress like Rajesh Singh Gabbar won Papermill colony , Kiran ( wife of former BJP corporator Naveen Rastogi Baba) they came to congress fold at the last minutes, when they were denied the tickets by their own party.
Former BJP corporator Suresh Chandra Awasthi who fought as independent when denied the ticket by BJP won the seat by good margin. Similarly changing of candidates at Hardin Rai, Rajendra Nagar, Moti Lal Nehru nagar, Raja Bazar, Paper mill colony, cost the seats to BJP.
Some stalwarts like Nagendra Singh Chauhan of Congress ( Ram Mohan Rai ward) , Ramesh Kapoor Baba ( Chowk Bazar Kalii) of BJP won their seats for the fourth time, while Ram Swaroop Verma ( Ramji Lal Nagar), Rizwan from Peer Jalil Golaganj , Kamran Beg of Nazarbagh, Ram Gopal Jaiswal from Chandrabhanu Gupta Nagar, Govind Pandey from Vidyawati ward, and Dr Kanshiram from Shaheed Bhagat Singh ward were elected for the third consecutive term.
Amongst the women contestants Madhu Singh of Congress from Hazratganj scored her second consecutive victory.
While wife of corporators Atul Dixit ( Sushila Dixit), Shafiq-ur-rehman Chacha (Shama Rehman), Naveen Rastogi Baba (Kiran Rastogi), Atul Yadav Bantu ( Durgesh Nandini Yadav), Girish Mishra ( Sandhya Mishra), M Naeem Nammu ( Saeema Naeem), Rajnish Gupta Bobby ( Archita Gupta), Satish Sahu ( Archana Sahu) have been elected into the new house.
