This 35 mm cinemascope Hindi movie has been made under the banner of Vikalap Communications. It has been produced by Varanasi-based producer VK Singh and Uday Yadav at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.
Producer and writer of movie, Uday Yadav said this Hindi movie is a family drama, depicting struggle of a village girl, Kastoori who secured top position in Intermediate examination and wanted to continue her education further but some people were against her wish.
He said that a Mumbai-based artiste, Kawishta Chatterjee, was playing the lead role of Kastoori while another Mumbai-based artiste was playing a lead role of Rahul Lohani.
“There are about 13 roles in this movie,” he said. Total 54 artists were playing different roles out of which 80 per cent belonged to Varanasi and its adjoining areas, he added.
“The shooting of this movie was conducted at different locations in Varanasi and its adjoining areas such as Khewali (Varanasi), Balrampur (Jaunpur), Bhabhnuti (Bhadohi) and Kharonja State (Chandauli),” he said. Yadav said there were seven different songs sung by noted singers. “Noted classical singer Arti Anklekar played a song ‘Baba Nimiyan Ke Ped’.
