A Western Railway spokesman told IANS that the train to Borivli had halted at Mahim when the train to Andheri collided with it from behind.

The incident occurred around 1.15 pm. It led to disruption of suburban train services on the slow corridor, the spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the Andheri train "could not be controlled and stopped", leading to the collision.
