Lindsay Lohan’s friend, Tyler Shields, has confirmed that the actress has signed up to play the role of Linda Lovelace, the porn star in Deep Throat, in an indie film.

Last month, rumours made rounds that Lohan, 23, would be portraying Lovelace.

However, Shields is only now confirming the news that she would be playing the role of the porn star in Inferno,eonline.com reports.

Lohan's photographer pal said that Matthew Wilder, director of Inferno, asked him to shoot promos for the film.

Shields is the man behind the controversial photos Lohan recently posted on Twitter of her brandishing a gun.

The images were for his new book, The Dirty Side of Glamour, the New York Daily News.

The film will be officially announced at the Cannes film festival, which begins next week.
