Madhya Pradesh: Train stopped for bomb search

Delhi-bound Gondwana Express was stopped at Malkhedi railway station in Sagar district and entire train was searched on Sunday night after a bag containing bomb like objects in a sleeper coach of the train was found.

According to government railway police (GRP) sources, an abandoned bag was found lying under a seat in S-8 coach of the train at Sehora railway station by some GRP personnel Sunday evening.

As the train halts for a few minutes only at Sehora railway station, the GRP personnel removed the bag from the coach and let the train depart. When checked some copper wires, crackers, two lighters and a battery of 12 bolts were found in the bag.

Talking to HT, superintendent of railway police, Jabalpur zone, AK Pandey said, “After the objects were found in the bag the train was stopped at Malkhedi railway station and entirely searched. However, nothing was found during the search.”

He further said train was allowed to proceed for Delhi after the search operation was over.
