"Our workers will teach such people a lesson. Today, thousands of workers protested against Sudarshan and courted arrest in Akola, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and other towns. Till we get an apology, we will continue to go to jail," Thakre said while addressing a gathering of party workers for felicitation of newly sworn-in chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.

Revenue minister Narayan Rane said such protests need to be spontaneous and done in such a way that nobody dare speak about our leader ever again.

Mumbai Congress president Kripashankar Singh said the ideology which killed Gandhiji has to be nipped in the bud.

"Congress will not rest till Sudarshan apologises," he added.

AICC secretary Mohan Prakash said the RSS has indulged in character assassination."The remarks are not only an insult to womanhood, but is result of a perverted mindset," he added.
