As many as 62 Congress MLAs in Maharashtra have accused their chief minister, Prithviraj Chavan, of being indecisive and ignoring party interests, TV channels reported on Tuesday.

The MLAs have written a letter to Manikrao Thackeray, the state Congress president, against Chavan who took over the reins of the state in November 2010.

Chavan is widely appreciated for reining in the powerful builders lobby and bringing some discipline in the state administration, but he has run afoul of several sections. Congress ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has trained its guns on him, accusing him of not taking it into confidence while taking important decisions. NCP chief Sharad Pawar has been frequently criticising him over policy paralysis in the state government.

Congress legislators owing allegiance to former CMs Ashok Chavan and Vilasrao Deshmukh took on Chavan in a meeting held last month and told him that they were not happy with his functioning.
