Talking to reporters, she expressed concern over the poor law and order situation and starvation deaths in Bundelkhand.

Mahila Congress state president Dr Sudha Rai urged the party workers to gear up for the ‘jail bharo’ movement. The party also decided to organise a meeting to review its performance in the municipal corporation election.

Talking to media persons, Ram Naresh Chaudhary said the party incharge for Gorakhpur division and former Union minister Ram Pujan Patel would arrive here on November 12.

He said a meeting of the party workers would be held on the same day at the zonal party office.

The party suffered a setback in the civic election as its strength in the Municipal Corporation reduced from nine to seven corporators.

The party failed to register victory on any Palika Parishad seat in the division. Though the Union minister for Small-scale Industries Mahavir Prasad addressed one dozen meetings, he failed to attract the voters.

However, party’s state secretary Dr Syed Jamal expressed satisfaction at the performance. He said though the party failed to register victory on any seat in Palika Parishad, its vote percentage had gone up.
