Maintain status quo along the Yamuna river: court

In a bid to resolve dispute over harvesting rights along river Yamuna, a local court has directed Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to maintain status quo along the border.

In a bid to resolve dispute over harvesting rights along river Yamuna, a local court has directed Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to maintain status quo along the border.

Kairana Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sant Kumar directed senior officials of the two states to allow farmers, who have grown crops along the river side, to do harvest in their respective areas.

Several bordering districts, including Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Baghpat, Noida, Bullandshar and Aligrah, in UP have been facing boundary dispute with Haryana.

The farmers of both the states have been involved in clashes over the dispute with the river Yamuna changes its course.
