The bodies of the two victims, identified by police as Captain Ivaylo Iliev Duchkov, 41, and Chief Officer Milen Angelov Kolev, 33 -- both Algerian nationals -- are being kept at a morgue in Male pending forensic tests, the Haveeru News Service said.

It said the ship, MV Izmeeru, had been travelling from Hong Kong to Port Said in Egypt when it ran into a storm during which the two men were reportedly killed.

The vessel arrived in Male late on Wednesday.
