Apart from the wreckage of a Swiss-made air ambulance on the roof of his rented accommodation, horror, destruction and an insurmountable sense of loss are all that remain for Shobha Ram Sherawat. In one day, he lost his wife, daughter and daughter-in-law.

The morning after, a desperate Sherawat searched in vain for any identifiable remains of his wife Vedwati, daughter-in-law Rani and daughter Savita.
“I survived because I jumped off the terrace, but for what?” Sherawat said. “I have lost my three family members and even my house! I’ve even lost the place where I could have at least mourned their deaths”, he said, tears rolling down his cheeks.
A heated argument with divisional commissioner TK Sharma only made matters worse, when he told Sherawat to register his protest by blocking the national highway, instead of pursuing him for compensation.
As he and his relatives prepared to block the highway, divisional commissioner, Gurgaon TK Sharma rushed to the site and told them, “Arrangements for the repair of your house will be made in addition to a compensation of Rs 2 lakh.”
To this, Sherawat said, “I can now at least mourn their deaths below a roof and not on the streets,” Sherawat said.
