The Ghaziabad police have arrested a 28-year-old sharp-shooter for the murder of a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA.
Vikas Singh has been charged with murdering BJP MLA Tripal Singh Dhama on January 8 at his farmhouse in Binauli area of Baghpat district in western UP.
Singh apparently killed Dhama over a minor dispute. Police officials said that Singh owned a gym, which was located opposite the victim’s house. Dhama had objected to the loud music played during practice sessions in his gym.
“Due to this, the victim’s nephews beat up the accused’s brother. This infuriated the accused, who planned Dhama’s murder with three other accomplices,” said Raghubir Lal, senior superintendent of police (SSP).
On the day of the incident, the four accused went to Dhama’s farmhouse and shot him several times on his chest and head with a .315 caliber country made weapon.
Singh has admitted to his involvement in the murder and told the police that his other accomplices fled after the incident. Singh will be handed over to the Baghpat police.
