Man U make impressive start to EPL

Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were both on the scoresheet as Man United hammered Fulham 5-1.

Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo were both on the scoresheet as Manchester United made a stunning start to the Premiership season with a 5-1 hammering of Fulham 5-1 at Old Trafford.

Rooney scored twice, Ronaldo once, while Louis Saha and an own goal from Ian Pearce completed the scoring.

United were 4-0 up inside 19 minutes, Saha heading home Ryan Giggs's cross against his old club (7) and Pearce's own goal (15) putting the home side in control.

Rooney made it 3-0 (17) and then set up Ronaldo for a superb fourth (19). Fulham pulled one back through an own goal from Rio Ferdinand five minutes before the break but Rooney scored his second (64) after a lovely move.
