The land-locked state thus remained cut off for the sixth day, in the wake of the current five-day blockade by Sadar Hill District Demand Committee and an earlier bandh by the All Naga Students Association in Manipur (ANSAM).

Scores of bandh supporters in Sadar Hills area in Senapati district blocked NH 39 while some agitators pelted stones at the passing private vehicles at Kangpokpi area and damaged a small bridge on NH 39 near kangpokpi, about 35 kilometres north of the state capital Imphal.

However, security personnel repaired the bridge and vehicles could ply on it now, reports said adding that people attempting to cross Kangpokpi area on foot were not allowed to pass through the area by supporters of the bandh.

The blockade is to end on Friday night. The committee had extended its earlier three-day bandh call from July 10 midnight for two days following the death of a supporter in a road accident involving security vehicle.
