Manipur insurgents call 24-hr strike on I-Day

Insurgent outfit Manipur People's Liberation Front has asked people to boycott Independence Day celebrations and called a 24-hour general strike in the state on Saturday.

The strike would start from midnight tonight, a MPLF statement said.

The MPLF, comprising militant organisations United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) and Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup (KYKL), has been boycotting Independence Day celebrations every year and calling general strike on the day for more than past two decades.
