Manmohan, Hu, Putin to meet in St Petersburg

The three leaders will meet on the sidelines of the outreach session of the two-day G-8 summit starting on Sunday

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet for the first time under the trilateral cooperation mechanism in St Petersburg next week, a senior Chinese official said in Beijing on Wednesday.

The three leaders will meet on the sidelines of the outreach session of the two-day G-8 summit starting on Sunday in St Petersburg, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai told reporters in Beijing.

This is the first time leaders of the three nations are holding a meeting. In the past, the foreign ministers of India, China and Russia have met on the sidelines of United Nations' meetings.
