Manohar Joshi's convoy crushes child; driver held

Both the children were rushed to hospital, where one of them was declared brought dead and another admitted in a serious condition, sources said.

A police driver of the convoy of senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi was on Sunday arrested for crushing a child to death and seriously injuring another, a senior police official said.

Prem Chandra was arrested on the charge of death due to negligence after he allegedly crushed a child to death and injured another on Saturday night in Raipur, SP Bhim Bahadur Singh Rajput said.

The police gypsy hit two children on the railway station road, he said, adding that the vehicle had also been seized.

The gypsy was part of the BJP leader's convoy, police sources said.

The vehicle was travelling in the front of the convoy when it hit the children, who were walking on the road side, police said.
