Official sources said shops, business establishments, banks and offices were open in all Maoist-affected areas and schools, colleges and other educational institutions also functioned as usual.
However, government buses remained off the roads in several parts of Naxal-affected districts like Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput and Kandhamal, leaving passengers stranded in some areas, the sources said.
Patrolling by security forces was intensified in Naxal-hit areas and a strict vigil kept in areas bordering Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, police said.
