Village wards member Tulasi Behera and Jaga Madakami were found in a forest near Bhejangiwada village, about 700 kms southwest of Bhubaneswar.

The rebels had abducted them along with four others on Thursday from Chintalwada and Ramaguda villages under Kalimela police station.

“They freed three villagers on Friday but killed the Chintalwada ward member and the anther villager,” Malkangiri superintendent of police Akhileswar Singh said.

One person is still being held captive by the Maoists. The killings come a day after the rebels shot dead a 65-year-old man at MV 79 village in the same district, their main stronghold in the state.
