Maoists reject Nepal King's decision

Announcing a blockade in the capital, the Maoists said King's speech failed to address the demands of protesters.

Nepal's Maoist rebels on Tuesday rejected the King's decision to reinstate Parliament, said his speech failed to address the demands of protesters and announced a blockade of Kathmandu and district capitals.

"This royal proclamation is a sham and a conspiracy against the Nepali people," Maoist leader Prachanda said in a statement. "Our party firmly rejects this."

Prachanda called on the Nepali people to continue peaceful street protests until elections were called for a special assembly to write a new Constitution.
