Maoists set truck on fire, damage auto-rickshaws in Jharkhand

Maoists, who have called a two-day Jharkhand bandh in protest against price hike of essential commodities, set a truck on fire and damaged a large number of auto-rickshaws on its second day of agitation, police said.

Maoists, who have called a two-day Jharkhand bandh in protest against price hike of essential commodities, set a truck on fire and damaged a large number of auto-rickshaws on its second day of agitation on Saturday, police said.

According to police, the Maoists also tried to torch another mini-truck, but could not do so due to intervention of security forces.

The bandh evoked mixed response in the Naxal-affected Kolhan region comprising east and west Singbhum and Saraikela-Kharswan districts.

The railway services remain unaffected, however, most of the vehicles were off the road.
