'Maoists' shoot at CPI(M) supporters, ransack forest office

A couple, both CPI(M) supporters, were shot at and a forest beat office was ransacked by suspected Maoists in separate incidents in West Bengal's Bankura district on Sunday.

A couple, both CPI(M) supporters, were shot at and a forest beat office was ransacked by suspected Maoists in separate incidents in West Bengal's Bankura district today.

Subal Mondal and his wife Mithu were shot at by suspected Maoists outside their house at Phulkusma area in the district, police said.

The duo was rushed to Bankura Medical College Hospital where their condition was stated to be serious, they said.

In another incident, a mob, believed to be Maoist-backed People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) activists, ransacked the beat office of Sarenga forest range and set ablaze all documents, police said.
