Maoists torch house

Suspected Maoists have set afire the ancestral house of an assistant jailor in Chatra districts ‘Lemboiya village, a senior police officer said in Jharkhand on Wednesday.

Suspected Maoists have set afire the ancestral house of an assistant jailor in Chatra districts ‘Lemboiya village, a senior police officer said in Jharkhand on Wednesday.

Around 250 ultras descended on the village and asked the family members of the assistant jailor, Chandrashekar Dangi Suman, to vacate the house before setting the house on fire on Monday, said Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Jha.

The Maoists had also looted jewellery, grains, clothes and other articles before indulging in the arson, he added.

Suman, posted as an assistant jailor of the Hazaribag Jayaprakash Narayan Central jail was not in the village.

Chatra is one of the two districts in Jharkhand which has been selected for alround development under a pilot project.
