On Wednesday, the weather played spoilsport but had no effect whatsoever on excitement. And on Thursday, people played Holi with gay abandon.

The localities in the city adorned a different look as the songs from the latest movies and albums blaring from the loudspeakers signified that the festival was under way.

It was the day to visit the homes of friends in order to enjoy and celebrate with colours and to express affection towards one another.

The voices mingled with excitement was heard from almost every household where this festival was being celebrated. Children enjoyed most as it was the best way for them to have fun. They looked their best in the evening donning the new attires bought for the occasion. Various delicacies prepared on the occasion were served to the guests including the mouth-watering gujhia which is the most popular dish. People applied tika of abir and gulal on each others forehead which symbolised the famous greeting gesture.

Even the news channels served the exclusive programmes to the viewers. And the most popular item telecast was the jokes by the artistes of 'Laughter Challenge' fame.

The programme was a treat for those who preferred staying in the confines of their homes instead of mingling with the usual crowd. The famous 'Braj ki holi' and the reports from other cities were provided to the viewers non-stop for the entire day.

Holi greetings were sent to each other through sms and funny messages managed to bring a smile on the face one and all.

The city managed to keep up to its tradition of celebrating the festival for two days. However the locality of Thatheri Bazar will witness the festival of colours on Friday which is yet another unique custom followed by the denizens.

It will be an opportunity for those who missed soaking themselves in lively colours for last two days.
