Mayoral post candidates get cracking
THE CANDIDATES for mayoral post of various political parties have stepped up their election campaign. In this order, BJP candidate Anju Chaudhary visited district collectorate on Saturday evening and on Sunday, she launched a mass contact programme with the traders in different localities.

Meanwhile, SP candidate Sitaram Jaiswal is also leaving no stone unturned to give a jolt to the BJP candidate. SP is in mood to repeat the election result of assembly by-election at Kauriram assembly segment in the district where saffron brigade had faced a defeat.
Sources said that chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav would review the preparation of Congress workers for Gorakhpur municipal corporation election. The party leaders were trying to satisfy the leaders aspirant for the mayoral ticket from SP but failed to get the ticket as party prepared to file a winning candidate in this election.
SP candidate Sitaram Jaiswal who had recently switched off his loyalty from BJP was considered to attract the traders’ community.
In fact, state minister Jaiprakash Yadav, SP MLC Ganesh Shanker Pandey and district unit president of party Chandrabali Yadav had suggested the name of Sitaram Jaiswal for mayoral candidates and state unit of the party had approved the proposal.
According to report, resentment is brewing among the aspirants for the mayoral tickets whose name were included in the panel. They said that the candidature of outsiders in these prestigious elections would adversely affected over the prospect of party candidates for upcoming assembly election.
Interestingly, all the political parties had set aside their ideology in selection of candidates for mayoral election.
BJP allotted the party ticket to Anju Chaudhary who was defected from SP.
Even the Congress party allotted the party symbol for mayor post to Ramesh Gupta who switched off his loyalty from saffron brigade and BJP.
Congress and BJP were also passing through a rough weather due to the revolt and non-cooperating attitude by the aspirants of the party ticket.
