In an admission of sorts that the Hindustan Times has been reporting continuously, Mamgain said works on pending road improvement projects in various areas across the city have been stalled due to lack of funds. He was addressing the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Works Committee meeting.

Several councillors raised the issue during the meeting, which was informed that the Delhi government has provided only R500 crore as against the R1,000 crore that it was supposed to release.

“Work on several community halls and school buildings too is stuck,” he said.

Incidentally, some Congress councillors too joined in the chorus, prompting Mamgain to ask them to “impress upon the government to release funds in time”. He said, “The government gives us money at the fag end of the financial year, when there is no time left to take up any work.”
