Suhas Jaganath Patil (20), student of Rajashree Shahu Maharaj Medical College, hanged himself from the ceiling fan with a nylon rope on Wednesday, they said.

The 20-year-old may have taken the extreme step due to exam stress and burden of studies, police said.

Patil, who hailed from Sakhari in Dhule district, had appeared for his first-term exam and gone to his native place from where he returned on January 5. He was staying in Mai Mangeshkar Hostel of the college.

A note was found in his room's dustbin in which he has sought pardon from his parents and said his brother would fulfil their wishes, police added.
