Grandeur is synonymous with designer Rohit Bal.
So, it’s no surprise that he is taking the high road with his new restaurant, on the premises of Delhi’s Hotel Janpath.
The designer, who has seen success with his first restaurant Veda, also in CP, will give his new venture a Mediterranean theme.,
The still unnamed restaurant, with its emphasis on Mediterranean, French and Italian food, will be ready to serve Delhiites by November end. Bal initially considered naming the restaurant Cibo (Italian for food), but changed his mind. Now he is toying with giving it a zany name — something like Pimento, it’s different
The head chef, as well as the wine collection, will come from Italy. Sounding super-excited about the restaurant, Bal says, “We have made sure that when people walk in they are reminded of a piazza or a similar Mediterranean scene. We have worked on both the interiors and the exteriors to make it look authentic.”
The Gudda factor lies in the grandeur of the restaurant’s interiors. Bal has worked on the décor himself, calling on the designer duo Prateek and Gautam Jain of Klove Studio to construct a 20-feet tall Qutb Minar using brass and glass.
