THE MISCREANTS who shot at UP Congress Committee member Luv Bhargava’s wife Mehar are moving freely around town but the police wouldn’t care less at least not with pressure from ‘the top’ to not touch the attachers.

Mehar Bhargava, on the other hand, is battling for life in hospital.

Her attackers, identified as Amit Singh and Sachin Pahadi, are safe at a hideout in Alambagh provided by their boss, gangster KD Singh but the police team has yet not made any efforts to trace them. Though, a police team has been constituted to investigate the case and find the assailants, nothing significant has been done.

The cops had picked up two youths from the KD Singh’s flat in Dilip Pur Tower on Tuesday. The police had then said that the duo were friends of the two absconding accused and they could reveal significant clues about the whereabouts of Amit and Sachin.

However, after detaining them for more than 24 hours, the cops let them off saying that the youths were unaware about the hideouts of the assailants.

Sources in the police said the youths who had been picked up for interrogation were regular visitors to KD Singh’s flat and were seen moving with Sachin and Amit. However, the cops had to release them from custody following pressure from an influential don-turned MLA.

Sachin was wanted by the Uttaranchal Police in cases of heinous crimes while Amit too, had executed shootouts for KD Singh and the don-turned MLA.

The cops were assured all help by KD Singh for help in getting the accused surrendered but the gangster-turned-block pramukh has not kept his work. And, the cops cannot muster courage to arrest the assailants.
