A criminal complaint has been filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Allahabad, against noted painter Maqbool Fida Husain for nude portrayal of Hindu gods and goddesses. This complaint, filed by Shankar Lal Chaurasia of Allahabad, has sought punishment to Husain, a resident of Mumbai, under Sections 153, 500 and 501 of the IPC. The Chief Judicial Magistrate took cognisance of complaint, recorded the statement of the complainant and fixed February 22 for the order.

This complaint, filed by Shankar Lal Chaurasia of Allahabad, has sought punishment to Husain, a resident of Mumbai, under Sections 153, 500 and 501 of the IPC.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate took cognisance of complaint, recorded the statement of the complainant and fixed February 22 for the order. On behalf of the complainant, his counsel Pradeep Kumar Srivastava has alleged in the complaint that Husain, in order to earn crores of rupees, is hurting the sentiments of Hindus by painting nude pictures of Hindu gods and goddesses.
Counsels appointed TWO ADVOCATES of Allahabad High Court, Govind Kumar Saxena and Amar Sukh Rai, have been appointed as counsels for the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Sitapur Road, Lucknow.
According to a notification issued by the director of the institute, both counsels will be authorised to appear in cases against the institute in the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow Bench. They will also appear on behalf of the institute in the cases filed by the institute against anybody or any organisation.
HCBA poll schedule The Chief returning officer Haider Hussain on Wednesday announced the schedule for election to 23 posts of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA).
The voter list will be put up at the notice board of the HCBA on February 20. Thereafter, objections can be filed against it on February 21. The final voters’ list will be announced on February 22. Nomination papers can be obtained and filed on February 20 and 21 and nominations can be withdrawn on February 23.
The final list of candidates will be published on February 24 and polling will be held on March 2. Counting will begin the same evening.
The chief returning officer, along with other returning officers PK Singh, RK Ojha and MC Chaturvedi, made it clear that only those voters would be permitted to cast their votes who had valid identity cards issued either by the UP Bar Council or the High Court Bar Association.
