Around 100 adhoc and daily wage employees of the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) on Tuesday gheraoed the acting vice-chancellor and registrar to protest against the recruitment exercise to fill back-log posts. Routine work of MGKV was adversely affected, as the agitated employees thronged the Administrative Building and demanded adjustment of ad-hoc and daily wage employees before recruiting back-log posts.

The ad-hoc and daily wage employees of MGKV have been demanding their adjustment as permanent employees since a long. But the MGKV administration, on the direction of the State government, published advertisements against vacancies of SC/ST and OBC, which were falling vacant since a long time.
Agitated over the advertisements the ad-hoc and daily wage employees, these employees gathered at the Administrative Building and apprised acting V-C Prof BD Mishra about their demands. Later, the employees also met registrar Dr Ramashanker Ram. The registrar briefed the agitated employees about the norms of State government regarding this particular case and assured all possible support. The agitated employees were shouting slogans against the MGKV administration.
V-C Prof BD Mishra and registrar, Dr Ramashanker Ram assured the agitated employees to extend all possible support. Soon after the incident, the MGKV administration constituted a committee to look into the matter. Registrar, controller of examination, president and vice-president of Employees’ Union and some other representatives have been made members of this committee.
