Jainuddin Ansari, the suspected kingpin of the Lashkar terror network in the state, which has been partly busted by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS), had stayed in a MLA hostel at Nariman Point on Monday night.

On Tuesday the ATS had intercepted the Tata Sumo he was traveling in, near Kannad on the Manmad-Aurangabad Highway. Three occupants of the vehicle were arrested on the same day, while the driver, Abdul Aziz, who had escaped, surrendered before the Aurangabad police on Friday. However, Ansari, along with one of his associates, is still absconding. A cache of ammunitions, 30 kg RDX and 10 AK 47 rifles were recovered from the vehicle.

Top sources in the ATS told HT on Sunday that during interrogation, Aziz said he had dropped Ansari at ‘Akashwani’ MLA hostel at Nariman Point on Monday night. The next day at around 5.30 am, he picked Ansari from the same place.
