Militants abduct 6 in Assam

The captives included five jawans of Sashastra Suraksha Bal. The sixth, a civilian, was killed later.

Five jawans of Sashastra Suraksha Bal (SSB) and a civilian were kidnapped by suspected militants in Assam's Udalgrui district, official sources said on Tuesday.

The militants in army uniform kidnapped the five jawans and the civilian on Sunday night from Mora-Dhansiri village in Udalgrui district, they said adding that the civilian was killed later.

His body was found on Monday night in the nearby Boudidam village, they said.

Efforts were on to establish the identity of the abductors and the motive of abduction, the sources added.
