Sources said that some militants threw a powerful bomb at around 9 pm Monday night at the house at Khurai in Imphal east district, but it failed to explode.

The minister was in his house at the time of attack, the second in a week.

The militants then fired at the house and the security guards of the minister returned it, the sources said adding the attackers escaped in the darkness.

The militants had fired at the house and tried to explode a grenade on July 24 but there was no casualty, sources said.

In a similar incident this morning a powerful grenade was hurled by unidentified militants at the office of the Manipur Director of Health Services, Wahengbam Motilal at Lamphelpat in Imphal West district on Tuesday but it too did not explode.

Motilal was not in the office and the grenade was defused.
