Minimal make-up at IFW
This time the make-up palette might see a make over at the India Fashion Weekindia Updated: Apr 09, 2006 17:38 IST
In previous years drama ruled the ramp with male models walking down the ramp in sindhur and sarees. Female models too wore unconventional make-up to create more glamour.
But this time the make-up palette might see a make over at the India Fashion Week. With Lakme walking out following the infamous split with FDCI, and holding its own show in Mumbai, the focus seems to be more on the designs.
Official make-up artist Meher Kolah, Yatan & JoJo and Ambika Pillai give a lowdown on the make-up trends for the ramp at the fashion week in Delhi.
“For the ramp, we will follow the designer’s look. The make-up will depend entirely upon the collection and would supplement the attire’s look. Some designers have asked for lightly smoky eyes, so that will be there,” says, Ambika.
“The make-up will be as realistic as possible. The clothes should catch the eyes, not the heavy duty make-up,” she adds.
Agrees Yatan Ahluwalia: “There may be lots of variations in make up and hair, but the colours will be light. The emphasis will be on beauty rather than drama.”
Yatan predicts lots of texture in hair. The out of bed messy look will also be hot this season.
Meher Kolah, the make-up artist from Mumbai offers more details, “This time Delhi ramp will witness more dewy and wintry look with detailing in the hair.”
Clearly, less make-up is the dictum for the India Fashion Week. And it surely has nothing to do with the rift with ex-sponsor Lakme!
