Minor fire in Padmavati express in Andhra

A minor fire broke out in two AC coaches of the Padmavati Express in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh, however, no casualties were reported.

A minor fire broke on Wednesday out in two AC coaches of the Padmavati Express in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh, however, no casualties were reported.

Three passengers suffered breathlessness as a result of smoke, South Central Railway spokesperson said.

The fire was detected around 3.30 am between Lavapadu and Tettu station in the district, Prakasham district Superintendent of Police Navin Chand said.

Thick smoke and fire were first noticed in one of the AC bogies from rearside and alert passengers pulled the chain to stop the train.

Fire was also noticed in another AC bogie.

Acting swiftly, railway personnel detached the two bogies of the train that runs between Secunderabad-Tirupathi and evacuated the passengers.

A team of forensic experts rushed to the site to investigate the reasons behind the incident, he said.
