Mirage fighter crashes in Morena

A MIRAGE-2000 fighter aircraft of Indian Air Force crashed near Baragaon in the Nirar area of Morena district around 8.30 p.m. on Wednesday. The aircraft crashed after it took off from the Maharajpura airbase on the outskirts of Gwalior.

Confirming the accident, IG (Chambal range) Vijay Yadav said the a police search team was trying to locate the pilot on board. The debris of plane was scattered but it was difficult to find other details by the search team due to bad light, Yadav said.

There was no loss of life or property on the ground as the plane crashed in an agriculture field outside the village.
