Misappropriation case: Two officials arrested

Two government officials were arrested regarding the alleged misappropriation of more than Rs one crore.

Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organization (SVO) has arrested two government officials including an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in connection with the alleged misappropriation of more than Rs one crore in the Public Health Engineering Department.

AEE Zafar Ahmad Faktoo and stock assistant Manzoor Ahmad Hajam were arrested after preliminary probe revealed that the duo forged the indents and made false entries in the stock register. They misappropriated more than Rs one crore between 2003 to 2005, a SVO statement said on Sunday.

It said sleuths of the organisation raided the residential premises of the accused officials in Sopore, Handwara and Kupwara after obtaining warrants from the special judge anti-corruption.
