Mobile phone services jammed in Uttaranchal

All mobile phone services were on Monday jammed in most parts of the state as an election practice to avoid untoward incidents.

All mobile phone services were on Monday jammed in most parts of Uttaranchal causing inconvenience to the cellphone users.

In Dehra Dun, all the mobile services including BSNL, Airtel, Escotel and Reliance were not working.

When contacted, Deputy Inspector General of Police Anil Raturi said it was a normal practice during elections to jam mobile services to avoid untoward incidents.

In the last assembly elections in Feb 2002, the mobile services worked normal.
