Modi was welcomed by BJP MP Sumitra Mahajan, Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma, MLAs Laxman Singh Gaud and Mahendra Hardia, former IMC Speaker Kailash Sharma among others.

Modi, however, refused to speak to the media at the airport. Though he paused for a few moments for the photographers and television crews and even came up to the media persons and greeted them with folded hands, he did not utter a single word. No amount of questions bombarded at him had any effect. He maintained a stoic silence.

Media persons made another desperate attempt while he was about to enter his car, after he had met some the local BJP leaders, but the result was the same.

Political observers noted the fact that none of the BJP leaders who belong to the Kailash Vijayvargiya faction were present at the airport to greet Modi, since the entire show is being managed by Sumitra Mahajan and her camp followers.
