Hours after allegedly molesting a girl, 24-year-old Mohd Parvez not only made off in a government helicopter, he even managed to get a cash assistance of Rs 5000.

The comedy of errors took place on February 8, and what aided it was an bus accident in Rajouri's Manjakote, in which 15 people had died.

While the government struggled to take care of the injured, Parvez allegedly molested a girl in the nearby Panjgrain village. He fled when the girl raised an alarm. Later, the girl filed a complaint with the police.

Parvez, who had sustained injuries, went to the Rajouri district hospital. The scene there was a godsend, with the chaos over the accident. Claiming he, too, was injured in the accident, Parvez got a doctor to refer him to be airlifted for treatment to Jammu. He even received Rs 5000 the administration was giving to patients for sundry expenses.

The administration realised its gaffe a day later. But Parvez was hard to trace.

His dream run finally came to an end on Sunday. "We arrested him from Manjakote and recovered the cash," said Mubassir Latiffi, superintendent of police, Rajouri.
