Monsoon bonanza for BSNL customers

Announcing this at a press conference, General Manager PK Srivastava said that the registration amount for a fresh basic phone connection would be reduced to Rs 250 and installation charges payable in six installments in the subsequent bills. Besides, at the time of registration the customer would be offered one prepaid SIM card and one ITC worth Rs 100 free of cost.
Whereas for the pre-paid customers, full talk time would be allowed on recharge coupons of denomination of Rs 300, Rs 500 and Rs 1000 and Rs 2500 and 25 per cent extra talk time would be offered on recharge coupons of denomination Rs 2000, Rs 3000 and Rs 5000, said the general manager.
Reactivating of prepaid SIM cards deactivated following the expiry of additional grace period would be allowed with waiver of cost of SIM on recharge coupons of denominations Rs 300 or above. Prepaid SIMs expired January 1, 2006 onwards, would be reactivated automatically, while prepaid SIMs expired prior to January 1, 2006, would be reactivated on individual requests.
Loyalty discount of Rs 25/75/175 would be allowed on post-paid connections under Plans 225/32/525 respectively from the date of activation.
Srivastava said it had been decided by the competent authority to re-brand the prepaid service ‘Excel’ as ‘Excel power’ to enhance value to the prepaid customers.
Under the Excel power plan, BSNL prepaid cellular subscriber may be allowed to call any two numbers of BSNL phones within circle/LSA at reduced rate out of which one land line number is mandatory.
Talking about the terms and conditions, the GM said the call charges for two selected numbers under this scheme was Rs 0.10 per minute with 60-second pulse. No additional fixed charges would be levied for this facility. The number once selected cannot be changed for a period of six months except for some technical reasons.
