The weather office said on Monday that the annual southwest monsoon rains were likely to be 93 per cent of the long-term average, and classified the forecast as being "just below normal."

"At 93 per cent, it is just below normal," B Lal, Director-General of the Indian Meteorological Department, told a news conference.
