Shane Warne has expressed surprise over Engalnd's decision to pick Monty Panesar and leave out his Hampshire teammate Shaun Udal in their squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka.
"I was a little surprised Shaun Udal did not get the nod especially with his all-round cricket," Warne said.
Panesar, who impressed on England's recent tour to India, was the only spinner in the 13-man squad for the Lord's match on May 11.
Warne, however, said that he was also impressed with Panesar.
"I have only seen him a couple of times on TV, not live but he looks pretty good. He looks like an accurate left-armer and did pretty well with the ball in India," the highest Test wicket-taker was quoted as saying in BBC Sport.
"They might play four seamers if the weather stays like it is, but it is very dangerous to go in without a spinner. You should not pick a team for the first innings you should also think about the second innings."
