The sun which symbolises energy becomes weak in this weather and the moon becomes strong, leading to psychosomatic disorders, depression, restlessness, mood irritability and insomnia. And the worst affected are people with 'Vataj' constitution having whitish or dark complexion and coarse skin.
The people consuming excess sweets in the winter may also suffer from psychological disorders, although minor. The weather may also create trouble for 'weak' hearted people, as they may suffer from stress-induced cardiac complications.
This period, according to Ayurveda it is a lunatic phase or Dakshinayan, will continue for the next six months. "So the coming months may witness increase in violent activities and a growing feeling of restlessness in teenagers and youths. The lean and thin and dark complexion people of 'Vataj' constitution may suffer more from psychological disorders, like depression and anxiety, than people with different Prakriti or body constitution," said Dr SK Rai, Ayurvedacharya.
Dr Rai said the Ayurveda also suggests remedy to effectively overcome psychological problems in this period. "To start with, one should have balanced diet, with a lot of sprouts and salads. Avoid eating excess sweet. The early morning hour should be devoted to deep breathing, meditation and Yoga. The more you will try to remain disciplined in your daily routine, the more you will stay away from psychological problems," he added.
