Katara, MP from Gujarat's Dahod constituency, was arrested at the Delhi airport last week while trying to smuggle Paramjit Kaur and a 15-year-old boy, Amarjeet Singh, to Toronto on his family's diplomatic passports.

"We are taking the parliamentarian to Dahod for further investigations into the matter," a senior Delhi Police official said.

He said Katara would be taken by train under special security arrangements and would most likely be back in the Capital on Thursday.

Special teams of Delhi Police's Crime Branch have already been dispatched to several states, including Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab to probe various aspects of the case that appears to have many ramifications.

On Sunday, searches were conducted at the home of Katara's aide Rajender Kumar Gampa by a police team sent to Hyderabad after information that Paramjit Kaur and Amarjeet Singh's air tickets had been arranged by a travel agent in the city.

They seized some documents and CDs.

The day before, Gampa, his sister Kiran Dhar and another Katara aide Sunder Lal Yadav were arrested in the national capital.

Police are also on the lookout for a travel agent from Hyderabad named Rashid whom Yadav had allegedly introduced to two MPs.
